This paper presents the motivation and objective for automation on-board a satellite, then proposes an example of system architecture. The characterisation of key technologies for FDIR, Planning/Scheduling, Verification & Validation is addressed, not in term of a particular solution, but in term of issues to consider for its selection from a large spectrum.
