We extend the Riemann-Roch formula of Panin to the case of regular schemes
(or alternatively smooth schemes over an arbitrary base) for suitable oriented
ring spectra. On the way we establish a residual Riemann-Roch formula which we
have not seen explicitly in the literature until now.
