A one-dimensional Klein-Gordon lattice with nearest-neighbor interactions is studied. It is well known that this kind of systems can support multibreathers with phase differences between the successive oscillators $\phi_i=0, \pi$. In this paper we prove the non-existence of {\it phase-shift breathers} i.e. multibreathers with $\phi_i\neq0, \pi$ in this kind of systems. This fact also determines the linear stability of the existing configurations.
