Novae have been proposed as the explanation of high reported abundances of
heavy elements in the gas producing the broad absorption lines (BALs) of QSOs.
High abundances of odd numbered elements, including aluminum, are predicted.
Available data contains hints that the Al/Si ratio may be high both in the BAL
gas and in the broad emission-line gas.
