Solar flare stereoscopic measurements in the soft X-ray region are reported. The data were obtained from the PHOBOS 2 spacecraft and are compared with those obtained from simultaneous soft X-ray measurements carried out by the GOES 6 and GOES 7 satellites. The PHOBOS spacecraft carried a soft X-ray RF-15 photometer which obtained whole-disk photometry of the sun in soft X-rays. The simultaneous data collection took place during February and March of 1989, after PHOBOS 2 had entered into the vicinity of Mars. From a preliminary sampling of 15 events, two are selected which meet the criteria of disk apparitions for one spacecraft while 'over the limb' for the other. From the two events, the minimum height is computed that each flare attained as well as other properties that could be deduced from the special geometry afforded by the relative positions of the spacecraft and the solar flares. The preliminary results reported here are based on a cursory review of the data.
