The author proposes that rendezvous with the free trajectory method be regarded as a problem of seeking optimal control using an algorithm with a prediction model. Simple analytical formulas have been obtained to compute the controls. The author has defined a region of initial rendezvous conditions for which the algorithm is efficient. A technique is suggested for establishing the dependence of the parameters of a generalized operating functional on the initial rendezvous conditions.
