Four years of auroral latitude radar echo signal fading time data from
the Tromsø MF radar compared with geomagnetic and solar indices
yield strong evidence to suggest, although not prove, that upper
mesospheric turbulence may be enhanced during periods of geomagnetic
activity. We present a critique of hypotheses to explain such effects.
