Understanding how binary stars form requires observations of binary sources during very early stages of the star formation process. Few such observations exist, however, due to the limitations of resolution and optical depth in deeply embedded protostars. Here we present new VLA 7mm continuum observations of a candidate binary Class 0 protostar in the Persues molecular cloud. Class 0 is believed to be the earliest protostellar phase, so observations of this phase are crucial to determine if binary fragmentation occurs before or after core collapse and protostar formation. Previous CARMA interferometric 1.3mm continuum observations of IRAS 03292+3039 in Perseus suggest that this source may be a binary protostar with two disks separated by less than 200 AU. The resolution of the CARMA data (0.4” or 100 AU) is not sufficient to fully resolve the complex source. In order to confirm the nature of this source we obtained a much higher resolution (0.15” or 40 AU) VLA 7mm map of IRAS 03292. We present results of these VLA observations, including estimates of the disk flux(es) and mass(es) as well as their relative size; in addition, we utilize complementary Spitzer and CARMA data to estimate the dust spectral index and source morphology in this very young source.
