I explore the formation of multiple absorption troughs in Broad Absorption Line (BAL) QSOs within the Accretion Disk Wind (ADW) scenario through both 1D streamline disk wind models and 2.5D disk wind models. Within the ADW scenario, the high velocity outflows observed in many QSOs through BALs is due to the wind outflow from an accretion disk. This scenario can account for the high velocities observed in QSO outflows as well as their steady nature. Within the ADW scenario, the multiple absorption troughs could be formed by the discontinuities in the ionization equilibrium in turn caused by the presence of X-rays in these systems. That is, the velocity and mass-density of the winds in these systems may be continuous, but discontinuity in the local ionization equilibrium could generate the multiple absorption troughs observed in some QSOs.
