We present the galaxy luminosity function out to a redshift z ~ 1 using new data obtained as part of the Deep Extragalactic Evolutionary Probe (DEEP). We divide the sample into red and blue galaxies and confirm that red galaxies have a falling faint end slope, while blue galaxies have a rising faint end slope. We also find that these faint end slopes are consistent with the local sample estimates, suggesting that there is no redshift dependence of the faint end slope value out to z ~ 1. The differential evolution of the luminosity function for color-divided subsamples is also detected. A comparison between these results with the new DEEP2 data will be presented.
