The high-resolution X-ray spectra of the persistent and dip phases of this low-mass X-ray binary system reveal emission and absorption features from a photoionized plasma. The spectra were obtained in a 48 ks observation with the Chandra HETG. The velocity broadening of the line emission from highly ionized Mg, Ne and O is likely due to orbital motion around the neutron star. The spectral evidence implies that the intensity dips are due to a variable column of gas composed of both neutral and ionized material. The X-ray recombination emission can be produced in an extended accretion disk atmosphere and corona.
