The interstellar phosphorus abundance provides information on depletion onto grains in nearby diffuse clouds and on nucleosynthesis in distant quasar absorption systems. We are continuing our survey of laboratory measurements to obtain the necessary precise oscillator strengths to convert the amount of absorption into an abundance. Here we present beam-foil results on lifetimes and branching fractions, from which oscillator strengths are derived, for the multiplet at 1308 Å. Potential blending from P IV transitions needs to be considered in the analysis. We compare our results to previous experimental and theoretical determinations and indicate future directions for the survey.
