We have searched for the 9.7 micrometer silicate feature in four quasar absorption systems at absorption redshifts 0.4 < z < 1.3, using data from the Infrared Spectrograph (IRS) onboard the Spitzer Space Telescope. These systems were chosen because of hints of their dusty nature from optical/UV spectra of the quasars. Three of the four absorbers show a possible detection of the silicate feature. The fourth absorber shows a hint of detection as well, but higher S/N data are needed to confirm the feature in that. We discuss the measurements of the silicate feature, and examine how its strength relates to various parameters measured from optical spectra, such as reddening of the background quasar and metal line strengths of the absorber.
