Relativistic plasmas occur in many environments in astrophysics, including gamma-ray bursts, AGN jets, and pulsar winds. I will present an overview of the astrophysical manifestations of relativistic plasmas and describe the common physical mechanisms that are invoked to explain the observations. These processes include acceleration and collimation of relativistic flows, their dissipation in shocks and the associated particle acceleration, and the physics of relativistic reconnection. Solution of these nontrivial problems requires the union of theoretical, numerical and laboratory approaches.
