This talk summarizes the meeting-in-a-meeting on the local interstellar environment. By discussing the heliosphere, nearby clouds, the Local Bubble, and the Local Cavity, this session aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of our neighborhood. The nearest regions, the heliosphere and its interaction zone with the interstellar medium, have been studied using data from IBEX and Voyager. Among the new results are estimates of the interstellar magnetic field strength. The Local Bubble has been studied through observations of X-ray photons, however, newer work suggests that many of these photons originate in the heliosphere and result from solar wind charge exchange. A call for revisions to the Local Bubble model will be noted in this talk. According to radio, optical, and ultraviolet observations, many neutral clouds reside within the Local Bubble/Local Cavity region. Studies of these clouds, including discoveries of new ones and evidence of turbulence, will be presented in the special session and summarized in this talk. The Local Cavity, whose spatial extent has been mapped with ever increasing resolution, will also be reviewed. Because the interstellar medium is not static and the Sun is not fixed to a firmament of interstellar gas, time variability will be discussed. Lastly, the physical processes that govern the local environment will be presented.
