We describe application of the 'shapelet' linear decomposition of galaxy images to data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Early Data Release. Shapelets are a set of orthonormal functions which also happen to be eigenstates of the 2D quantum harmonic oscillator. Because they form a complete set, they allow us to quantify galaxy morphology in a model independent way. We compare shapelet decompositions to traditional Hubble classifications for a sample of ~ 1450 well resolved SDSS galaxies, describing the relationship between location in shapelet space and Hubble type. In addition to decomposing the galaxy images in a single band, we also decompose images in the colors u-g, g-r, and r-i. This morphology of color provides significant additional classification information. Funding for the creation and distribution of the SDSS Archive has been provided by the Alfred P.
