We synthesize coronal images and spectra from advanced 3D radiative MHD simulations obtained from the state-of-the-art Bifrost code, and explore how well they reproduce coronal observations with SDO/AIA and Hinode/EIS and XRT. We apply standard diagnostic techniques (e.g., density, temperature, abundance diagnostics) to the synthetic observations and investigate how accurately the derived physical information matches the plasma parameters of the model. We discuss the limitations of the diagnostics and their implications.
