A search was conducted for seven bands of the IR system of the iron hydroxide molecule in sunspot spectra, with three bands successfully identified. Equivalent widths were measured for the strongest band and the rotational temperature was determined. The average value obtained was 1740 K + or - 100 K. This value is significantly lower than the temperatures derived for other molecules.
