The radio-quiet quasar I Zw 1 has been observed in the J = 1-0 and J = 2-1 lines of CO and clear detections in both transitions have been obtained. The J = 1-0 appears much more luminous than the J = 2-1 line. If the CO is optically thick and thermalized, the emission must originate through the host galaxy's disk. This is substantiated by the CO profile shape. A plot of CO luminosity versus far-IR luminosity supports the hypothesis that the far-IR emission in I Zw 1 is thermal. The results indicate that the far-IR may be dominated by dust emission.
