The solar oscillation data of Libbrecht (1989) are inverted, and it is
found that there is a sharp radial gradient in the sun's rotation at the
base of the convection zone. The existence of a sharp radial gradient
there may be used to suggest that it is the site of the dynamo which
drives the sunspot cycle.
