The stationary wave of star formation that occurs when young stars interact with interstellar gas via an excitation of shock waves that compresses the gas is analyzed for the cases of both homogeneous and clumped media. This phenomenon is shown to be responsible for such coherent behavior as the global star bursts of large star-gas systems. In particular, it is demonstrated that large-scale star bursts initiated by stationary waves of the formation of Population III stars may have produced the extreme and intermediate halo populations in the Galaxy.
