A catalog is presented giving the positions of variable stars brighter than magnitude 12.0 at maximum light which are listed in the third edition and first two supplements of the 'General Catalogue of Variable Stars' and which could be identified in various 'Astrographic Catalogues' zones north of declination +31 deg. The positions were derived relative to the FK4 fundamental system for the equinox of 1950.0 using the plate constants and relations obtained by Guenther and Kox (1970, 1972). Positions of companions are also provided in several cases. It is noted that the cataloged positions can be used to derive proper motions, especially in relation to other more recent positions.
