Peculiar orbits which were detected in the elliptic sun-Jupiter-asteroid problem at commensurabilities are described on the basis of Schubart's (1964, 1966) results obtained for the circular problem by an averaging procedure. For the qualitative description of these peculiar orbits, the eccentricity of Jupiter's orbit is considered as a small perturbing parameter of the averaged circular restricted three-body problem.
