New effective characteristics of quasi-periodic signals based on the scalegram analysis (Andronov 1997) have been introduced, namely the effective amplitudes, periods (time scales) and slopes of the scalegram. They have been applied for additional classification of 173 semi-regular variables. The stars V Hya, DY Per, SY Eri, BM Sco and RW Cep are characterized by outstanding values of at least one of the parameters and need additional observations to check their peculiar behaviour.
