The mathematical properties of the classical AR(tau) processes imply that the latter are in general inadequate for simulating irregular time-series. However, when modified by a subsequent nonlinear m-parameter transformation, the resulting stochastic scheme can provide good reconstructions of the broad features of these series. The method is illustrated by a statistical reconstruction of the V light curve of RU Cam, with tau = 4, m = 6.
