High-resolution echellograms of the supposedly rotating spotted dK-dMe stars BY Dra and EQ Vir have been obtained. These data are directly compared with similar material for three nonemission late-type dwarfs. The absorption lines in the spectrum of EQ Vir are broader than those in the nonemission stars by an amount consistent with its radius and photometric period. Although there is a distinct visual impression of a similar effect in the BY Dra spectra, it is not possible to demonstrate it with any degree of confidence.
