Some of the planetary nebulae listed in the Catalogue of Galactic Planetary Nebulae (1967) are peculiar in that they have nebular emission lines in combination with the absorption spectrum of a cool (spectral type A through K) central star. Spectral classifications and relative intensities of nebular emission lines have been obtained for sixteen peculiar central stars. The spectroscopic characteristics of peculiar central stars are compared with those of other emission-line objects, such as Be stars, symbiotic stars, and P Cygni stars. It is found that most of the peculiar central stars do not fit into any well-defined class of emission-line objects. It is possible that at least some of the peculiar central stars represent single stars in a protoplanetary-nebula stage of evolution.
