The ionization and thermal equilibrium of the filaments in the Crab Nebula are considered. The model is basically identical to the one proposed by Williams (1967), i.e., gas ionized by synchrotron radiation where the diffused radiation is taken into account. It is found that when each filament is calculated independently, the large variations in the observed line intensities can be explained by means of the same model assuming practically identical composition but different incident flux. The incident flux so found is correlated with the projected distance from an assumed center. This correlation resembles the one discovered in X-ray observation. The best agreement with observation was obtained with He/H of the order of 0.4-0.5.
