The characteristics of Neptune are reviewed, focusing on data which may be provided by the Voyager mission. The planet's gravity field, rotation period, IR spectrum, atmospheric dynamics, geological structure, and chemical composition are considered. The possibility that Neptune has a strong magnetic field is examined. Also, the observed features of Neptune are compared with those of Uranus, suggesting that the two planets are substantially different.
