Equations for the stationary populations of the 1 1-S, 2 3-S, and 2 3-P
levels of helium in a solar flare are obtained and they are solved using
a flare model of Pikel'ner and Kostyuk (1974). The model allows one to
determine the optical depths of the D3 and 10830 A He lines in a flare
and He column densities in the 2 3-P states.
