The study discusses solar models with respect to the frequencies Delta(n,0) and Delta(n,1) and the distribution of the sound velocity in the range 0.4-0.7. By modifying the interior opacity, a solar model which best reproduces the observed D(n,lS) and inferred sound velocity in the range 0.4-0.7 is obtained. The opacity is considerably larger than the Los Alamos opacity. The solar model with the modified opacity has a high initial helium abundance of 0.346 and neutrino flux a factor of 2 higher than that of the standard model. The larger opacity required to reproduce the helioseismic data is in contradiction with the weakly interactive massive particle (WIMP) hypothesis. The present solar models with WIMPs contradict the observed seismic data. This result supports a solution to the solar neutrino problem via the Mikaev-Smirnov-Wolfenstein effect.
