The reported e+/- annihilation line from the Crab pulsar has three remarkable properties. It is very strong (approximately 1040e+/- annhilations/sec.), red shifted (by about 70 KeV relative to mc2 = 511 KeV), and very narrow (width approximately equals 10 KeV). The e+/- annihilation did not occur near the star in polar cap accelerator models so that the redshift, suggestive in its magnitude of a gravitational redshift from annihilation near the stellar surface, did not have an explanation. Therefore, concentration was placed on e+/- production from outer-magnetosphere accelerator models.
