A theoretical model of meteoroid fragmentation is developed, and expressions are derived to predict the light curves in the case where small nonfragmenting particles are detached from the meteor quasi-continuously. Deceleration effects are neglected, and fast and slow fragmentation are treated separately. The height dependence of the relative meteoroid vaporization rate is calculated numerically for typical object parameters and rapid, slow, or zero fragmentation and plotted in a graph.
