The method of Mishin et al. (1982) and an improved modification of this
method are examined with reference to the multiple-regression and
magnetic-potential analyses of the geomagnetic-variation field. A
typical example of potential analysis is considered for the very quiet
period 9-10 h UT, May 6, 1968 (Kp = 1 sub 0).
