Ab absorption feature at 2.9 - 3.0 μm has been detected for the first
time in comet Černis 1983l at 3.3 AU. The feature is interpreted
as scattering by ice grains in the comet's coma. The thermal emission
spectrum indicates that hot, micron-sized absorbing grains are also
present in the coma.
