Using infrared speckle interferometry, the authors have resolved a near-infrared halo surrounding Ve 2-45 (Roberts 80), a WC 9 star with a prominent 2 to 20 μm infrared excess. At 3.8 μm and 4.8 μm, the visibility data can be fitted by a uniform disk model with an angular diameter α ≡ 0arcsec.25 - 0arcsec.30, corresponding to a radius of ≡3.6 - 4.4×1015 cm if the distance is 1.9 kpc.
