Loose groups of galaxies, with a small number of members, have been studied by means of N-body dynamical simulations in which the mass spectrum adopted spans nearly four decades. Basically, the standard deviation of the logarithms of the virial masses, due to projection, quasi-equilibrium, and undersampling effects, is larger than previous estimates. The simulations satisfactorily reproduce the standard deviations of the logarithms of virial masses and luminosities, obtained from a subsample of small galaxy deviations of the logarithms of virial masses and luminosities, obtained from a subsample of small galaxy groups taken form Huchra and Geller's (1982) catalog; however, the standard deviation of the mass-to-light ratio shows that masses and luminosities are poorly correlated.
