Launched November 20, 2005, the Swift gamma-ray burst chasing multiwavelength observatory has now discovered and observed well over 100 GRBs. Highlights include the highest redshift GRB (GRB 050904, z=6.29), several short hard bursts with shared characteristics that support the neutron star merger progenitor model, and unprecedented multiwavelength coverage of the birth of a supernova (GRB 060218=SN 2006aj). In addition to ground-breaking GRB science, Swift spends roughly 30% of its observing time monitoring interesting galactic and extragalactic sources and responding to time-critical target of opportunity (TOO) requests from the community. Examples include numerous nearby supernovae, recurrent nova RS Oph, SS 433, Deep Impact’s collision with comet Tempel 1, galactic black hole transients, and unidentified Swift/BAT survey sources. A healthy Guest Investigator (GI) program funds US researchers for theoretical investigations, ground-based follow-up programs and new Swift projects. The GI program is a component of NASA Headquarters’ ROSES omnibus research announcement. The upcoming Cycle 3 GI program includes the opportunity to propose limited TOO programs. I will give an overview of Swift discoveries and the Cycle 3 GI program, including schedule, and how to propose for this exciting new opportunity. More information about Cycle 3 can be found on the Swift Web site (http://swift.gsfc.nasa.gov/).
