We present the first C18O (J=1-0) mapping observations and studies for the northwest W31 molecular cloud at different velocity components. The observations were made in 2002 with the 13.7m-millimeter wave telescope of Purple Mountain Observatory. The observed area is 16´×25´ , the grid spacing of maps is 1´. Molecular Clouds with different velocities of line of sight were analyzed separately. Three new compact molecular clumps were discovered and we can find that they are younger and stable molecular clumps .According to the line radiation temperature() and the line half width(?V), the physical parameters for these clumps were derived with LTE method. Besides, the relationships between the distributions of these clumps ,HII regions, masers and star formation are also discussed.
