It is desirable that models of CV systems include the following features:(1) A system synthetic spectrum should be generated and should include contributions from both stellar components as well as the accretion disk and the accretion disk rim.(2) There should be separate synthetic spectra of the stellar components, the accretion disk, and the accretion disk rim, in addition to the system synthetic spectrum.(3) The model should provide both synthetic spectra and synthetic light curves.(4) The models for the stars should accurately represent tidal and rotational distortion, including a secondary star that fills its Roche lobe. The models should include effects of gravity darkening and mutual irradiation.(5) Detailed astrophysical information should be available describing the structure of the annuli that make up the accretion disk.(6) The system model should accurately simulate an actual system for arbitrary orbital inclination and phase, including eclipse phases.A combination of the software packages BINSYN and TLUSTY meets these requirements. The paper will describe how a system model is produced. The discussion will consider systems already modeled as well as current modeling efforts and limitations of the present models.
