While far-UV absorption/emission and X-ray emission studies of warm-hot gas in the Galaxy have had a long history, the X-ray absorption line spectroscopy has just begun with recent Chandra and XMM-Newton grating observations of luminous AGNs and X-ray binaries. In this talk, I will review our recent progress in characterizing the thermal, kinematical, and chemical properties, as well as the filling factor and global distribution of the gas via X-ray and FUV absorption line spectroscopy. Such characterizations are important for understanding the role that the gas may play in the Galactic "ecosystem".This work has been supported by NASA through SAO contract to MIT for support of the Chandra CXC.
