The estimates given in the paper do not support a connection between the melting of Greenland glaciers and the secular motion of the earth's pole. A hypothesis is advanced that the state of the Greenland glacial cover affects the variation of the mean latitudes of North American observatories, which in turn results in instability of the astronomical system of terrestrial coordinates.
