CCD observations and B, K, and R photometry of the 178 radio sources in the Parkes Selected Regions survey are presented. Recent spectroscopic observations are shown to increase the redshift content to 46 percent, including all the quasar candidates. It is suggested that not more than 10 of the present objects can lie at z of greater than 2.5. The present results are used to constrain the high-redshift cut-off in the radio luminosity function and to provide new information on the optical spectral evolution of radio galaxies.
