We observed the embedded massive star forming region AFGL437 using the Near Infrared Imager (NIRIM) camera on the 3.5m WIYN telescope. We report on broad-band J, H, and K photometry as well as narrow-band H2 and Bracket Gamma images of the cluster. Using these results and archived data from the Spitzer Space Telescope, young stellar objects in the cluster are identified in two ways: 1) by using NIR colors, and 2) by fitting protostellar models (Whitney et al. 2006) to observed spectral energy distributions. We compare the two techniques, determine the variation of extinction across the cluster, estimate the age of the cluster, and examine the distribution of stars and protostars as an approximate function of age and relative mass within the cluster.
