The key advantages of COSMIC (Coherent Optical System of Modular Imaging Collectors) are high angular resolution and the ability to produce images of complex, low-surface-brightness objects such as distant galaxies. If configured as a 36 m filled linear array, COSMIC can have 15 times better angular resolution and 10 times greater collecting area than ST.
