Up to August 1988, 12 supernovae have been discovered in Markarian galaxies. All of them are discussed individually through a critical analysis of available material and, for some object, previously unpublished photometric observations have been derived from the plate archives of the Asiago Observatory. The frequency of SNe in a sample of Markarian galaxies has been estimated on the material of the Asiago SN Search. It is shown that the frequency of SNe in the extranuclear region of these galaxies, i.e. where the searches succeed in discovery SNe, does not differ significantly from the corresponding value relative of normal galaxies, thus excluding that Markarian galaxies belong to the class of SN fast producers. In addition, the radial distributions of SNe inside the Markarian and normal spiral galaxies result similar, with a slight indication for SNe in Markarians to explode closer to the nuclear regions. Therefore, extranuclear regions of Markarian and normal galaxies of the same morphological type have similar stellar population, at least as far as concerns the SN progenitors.
