The periodicity of transits of Venus over the sun's disk is studied, using straightforward methods based on averages of the variables calculated. Results are statistical in nature, and not referable to any particular transit of the planet. Theories on the motion of the earth and Venus advanced by Newcomb provide the basis for the study. Results are then compared with results based on a study by Meeus (which presented data on Venus transits over a 6000-year time span).
