It is proved that two accretion modes (a disk-like mode and a Bondi-type mode) arising due to discontinuous changes in the location of the sound horizon exist generally in the case of accretion onto a Kerr black hole. The dual accretion modes do not exist in the case of flow onto a very rapidly rotating black hole, where only the Bondi-type accretion mode is possible.
