Pulsars: General

Scientific paper

This paper presents a geometrical analysis of an uniform and consistent set of pulsar data obtained with the 100-m Effelsberg radiotelescope at 21 em and 2.8 em in the autumn of 1991, during an extensive observing session (Pulsar Month). We have calculated the opening angles between the magnetic axis and emission direction for various conal components of pulsar beams. They follow two distinct lines with slopes determined by the inverse square root of pulsar period, supporting a result also obtained by Rankin (1993a, b). This is naturally interpreted as a double-conal organization of the mean pulsar beams.
