The analysis of a K star in the young association NGC 1948 shows that the metallicity is [Fe/H] ~ -0.4 dex. The C and N abundances and the ^12^C/^13^C ratio indicate that the star has undergone an extensive internal mixing. Oxygen is deficient relative to iron, but this deficiency is inside the limits found by Luck & Lambert (1992) for the LMC cepheids. The heavy elements, heavier than Zr, are overabundant relative to iron. This overabundance seems to be a characteristic of the Magellanic Clouds stars.
